Djusi Kovač (Novi Bečej/Serbia)
Unbelievable guitar mastery, or just an outstanding gig, it all depends on your point of view… Vojvodina’s virtuous Djusi Kovač is certainly going to prepare both forthe Suburbium, helped by the tour de forceand ubiquity of his band.
The forty-year-old musician has been playing traditional folk instruments, the harmonica and tambura, ever since he was a little boy, and only starting to display enormous interest during his teens for the guitar, which, from then on, became his number leading companion, together with sister instruments the mandolin, balalaika, prim, cello and bass. Equally skillful in every genre, he played in folk ensembles, acoustic jazz groups and rock’n’roll bands, trying to combine contrasts like rock guitar and a big tamburica orchestra. This ubiquity brought him collaborations with the most talked about names from the local scene, like Zvonko Bogdan, Bebi Dol, Riblja čorba and others. And as for the Street Musicians Festival, with his basic rock quintet,he is preparing a not-so-basic program.
