La Sed Gitana (Novi Sad/Serbia)

La Sed Gitana

The heated breath of Andalusia, fiery temperament of the Mediterranean and life obsessed by Flamenco of the Spanish Gypsies, not just as an art form, but as a way of thinking, is everything the widely renowned troupe La Sed Gitana from Novi Sad stands for. Emphasized sense of freedom, strong emotions, and attraction of opposites are the main features of this artistic genre, including its leading representatives from the region.

Dance school and center for studying Flamenco was founded back in 2003, under the patronage of Maja Vukadinović, who still remains today the leading lecturer and choreographer of this ever more numerous, and popular troupe. Meticulous approach, detailed study, and adoption of tradition, together with the all-importantadd-ons and numerous performances, have made La Sed Gitana a premier institution of Spanish culture, and the leading ambassador of Flamenco music and dance in Serbia, but beyond as well. That is why their performance at the Street Musicians Festival, as always, will be more than a mere show – a true celebration of good, quality music, dance, and unique way of life, which, despite certain similarities to the local tradition, cannot, after all, be experienced each, and every day.
