Theatre Promena (Novi Sad/Serbia)
No less than three plays and one concert of improvised music will be presented by the Theatre Promena (Change), as part of the project “Initiate Change, Be the Change!” organized by Scenatoria, at this year’s Street Musicians Festival. Each performance of this troupe will be held at the unusual ambience of the Army playground in Petrovaradin’s Suburbium, to the right of Belgrade Gate.
The professional student theatre titled Theatre Promena is active since 1978, while it is currently consisting of former and current students, but in a new lineup, from the Academy of Art in Novi Sad. The driving force of these young artists is their desire to create a different, alternative, dynamic, and diverse theatre scene in our midst, and, thus, set themselves apart from other theatres by featuring contemporary or rarely seen plays. For the visitors of Gradić, at the beginning of September, they are preparing a comical theatre improvisation “Talente Grande y tu Madre” (The Great Talent and Your Mother), a crime-drama “Ručni rad ili Tajna jednog pisma” (Handiwork, or the Secret of a Letter), and an energetic farce comedy “Lysistrata, or Let’s Talk About War and Peace for a Bit”, based on the motifs of the Ancient Greek writer Aristophanes.
