The street musicians festival calls artists to apply for participation on this year’s program
COMPETITION OPENED UNDER NEW RULES
The traditional cultural event, the Street Musicians Festival, celebrating its jubilee, is taking place for the 15th consecutive time in Novi Sad during the first weekend of September, and has yet again opened the competition intended for artists who want to participate on this year’s program. The call is open to all individuals, groups and troupes from the fields of music, dance, performance and pantomime, as well as clowns, jugglers, actors, and other artists who enjoy the spirit of street art and want to become a member of the great family of participants from previous 14 editions of the Festival, many of whom have gained genuine acknowledgment only after performing in Novi Sad.
This year’s competition for participation on the Street Musicians Festival is specific because artists who want to apply are offered three application categories:
- with covered travel, accommodation and performance fee expenses
- with ensured accommodations, and
- with an ensured performance spot.
This novelty has been introduced to the Street Musicians Festival in an effort to fine-tune to the experiences and trends of similar events in Europe and the world. During application, the participants themselves can choose the category they wish to apply to, but the Festival’s art board will coordinate the selection according to the performance concept and financial ability. The number of participants with completely covered expenses is limited to 10, but all artists who perform on the Street Musicians Festival will have the possibility to achieve earnings via the flipped hat for audience contributions, completely harmonized with the spirit of this art form and with performing in the streets and squares.
